Fitness Programs / 4 Easy Ways to Get Started on a Fitness Program

Fitness Programs

Getting Started

I believe getting started is the hardest thing to do, when dealing with anything...but especially when dealing with exercise and starting an exercise routine or program. In my experience as a Fitness Expert I have come across many questions when sitting across from clients and potential clients. These may sound familiar, where do I start? I've failed so many times, how many days do I really need to workout to get to my goal? Do I really have to change my eating habits? What am I suppose to eat? I don't want to starve myself? Can you give me a quick fix? I know what to do, its just I'm confused on where and how to start. I could write a book of questions but I want to give you answers to some of these questions. Not only do I want to give you the answers, but I want to give you the tools that allow you to apply the information.

So back to the topic at hand...getting you started!! I'm not sure if its anxiety, fear of failure, fear of not finishing, laziness, breaking old habits, fear of succeeding, being unmotivated or a little bit of all of them. Whatever the reason it can be rather difficult to start. But from experience once you get started all that stuff just seems be put in its place. It's like you have a see where you want to be, in this case how you would look, feel and behave when you accomplish your goals. But between here and your goal is a vast space.....where ACTION must take place! And that's where most of us get stuck...in the process of ACTING on our goals.

So that's why I decided to help out those of you that are just stuck and really want to start, but just don't know where to start. Okay before I give you these 4 simple (yet effective) ways to get unstuck, I have a confession. Getting started with this article took a while...I thought about it for a while then thought of all the reasons that I didn't have time to write the article, but now that I am doing it, I'm excited because I know I will be able to help you get started and on your way to a healthier lifestyle!!

1. Get a piece of paper and write down your goals. (I'll wait for ya:) whether its to lose weight inches, tone up, trim down, get back in your favorite dress, or jeans.(Be specific, the more specific the more likely you are to succeed).

2. Write next to those goals why you want to reach those specific goals, be as detailed as possible. Now that that's taken care of lets make a simple game plan.

3. Write down the obstacles that may hinder you from getting to your goals. Then write how you will overcome these obstacles. It may be one thing or many things. It could be friends, a spouse, children, a favorite food, stress, a bad habit or even yourself. But when it boils down to it no matter how legitimate that obstacle is, it's still an excuse. If you are really determined and want something bad enough you will figure out how to get around that obstacle. So now that we have our excuses out of the way, and if you are still reading the article, then you are ready for the last and final step.

4. Write down 1 thing you are going to do this week that will help you get to your goal... and tell someone!!

For example walk on your lunch break, or bring your lunch and healthy snacks to work with you one day this week, or if you eat out 4 days a week try to cut it to 2 or 3 days. Now I want you to tell one person about it, it can even be me, just email me. Then do that one simple action this week. It may seem little and not very effective, but believe me if you do this on a consistent basis and add another goal next week, watch what happens. Set small goals and achieve those, then soon enough you will start building good habits and results. Now POST this up where you can see it EVERYDAY!!
